The Monkees Reunite for UK Tour

The Monkees

In the 1960s, the Monkees united for the sake of a television show about a band of moptops inspired by the Beatles. Along with the comical situations presented in the series, music was a part of the show every week, and the fictional band became a real success.

Davy Jones, Mike Nesmith, Mickey Dolenz and Peter Tork sang together, gracing the world with such upbeat pop hits as “Daydream Believer,” “Last Train to Clarksville” and “I’m a Believer,” not to mention the show’s chipper theme song. At one time, their popularity rivaled even that of the Beatles, and John Lennon expressed admiration for their comic chemistry.

Now, 45 years after their initial formation, the Monkees are reuniting for the sake of a UK tour. Though they have given concerts in the UK in the past, this is the first time in 12 years that they will perform there as a band. Michael Nesmith will not be a part of this tour, but the other three will be playing their hits, whose popularity allowed them to sell 50 million albums.
